Preoperatieve radiotherapie bij het rectumcarcinoom Voegt het wat toe?

In januari 2004 verschenen twee publicaties, in respectievelijk Colorectal Disease en Journal of Clinical Oncology, ver de waarde van preoperatieve radiotherapie (PRT)als onderdeel van de behandeling van het rectumcarcinoom. De conclusies van de artikelen spreken elkaar tegen. Dit was de aanleiding voor de redactieraad van Medische oncologie om  prof. dr. I.H.M. Borel Rinkes en prof. dr. C.J.H.van de Velde te benaderen met het verzoek de studies te becommentariëren.
